Plan Now to Exhibit at IMAPS ‘01 in Baltimore!
Kyle Huth, IMAPS 2001 Exhibits Co-Chair
I would like, first of all, to take a moment to publicly thank all of the members of the IMAPS ‘00 Symposium Committee for putting on such an excellent show. Your great efforts and results in Boston have once again given a lift to the entire IMAPS family and have provided a strong boost to the Symposium Committee for IMAPS ‘01 in Baltimore. Many thanks to all of you for your hard work, long hours, and time spent away from families as you dedicated yourselves to building a great Symposium and Exhibition.
We are challenged by the success of IMAPS ‘00 in Boston to make IMAPS ‘01 in Baltimore even more successful. That will not be easy, but the main ingredient needed to make IMAPS ‘01 an even bigger, better, more successful event is YOU. All of you sitting there reading this have an interest in this industry or you would not be spending time on this letter. All I want from you is your heart, your mind, and your soul. No, just kidding. What you can really do is much simpler. Start by being sure you register to attend or exhibit at IMAPS ‘01and please do so early. Early attendee registrations help companies decide to exhibit and early exhibitor registrations help drive attendee plans. Then, if you have any suggestions that you think will improve IMAPS ‘01 in any way, please send them to me (kylehuth@aol.com). I promise you that I will bring them up in our planning meetings and they will be given the attention they deserve. Best of all, from my point of view, would be if you decide to do more than come and attend the show, choosing, in addition, to become involved with our Symposium Committee planning efforts. We have many talented people on our team, but we can always find a place for those who wish to volunteer.
Our plans for IMAPS ‘01 are taking shape and, thanks to a strong Exhibits registration at IMAPS ‘00, our goal of filling the Exhibition Hall at IMAPS ‘01 is well within reach. Most of you know what the show offers: contact with customers, visibility for new products, strong technical presentations on many important subjects, and the opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones. Please take a few minutes to complete the application for booth space and send it in. All of you who attended IMAPS ‘00 noticed how well it went and have seen some of the changes made to help increase the flow of traffic through the Exhibition Hall. The luncheons served free in the Exhibition Hall was a quantum leap in the right direction and will be repeated again next year. We are also planning an Octoberfest to be held on Tuesday, October 9 from 4:30-6:00 PM. The main purpose of this event is to allow those people attending the Symposium extra time to really see the show. Our plan is to send a catering price list to each Exhibitor so that they can decide what refreshments they wan to offer in their booth. IMAPS plans to distribute a map of the booths listing what refreshments are available in each one.
We are also planning to actively incorporate into both the technical program and the Exhibits the Printed Circuit Board, SMT, and Advanced Electronics industries. We have recruited David Klein, D.K. Associates, to join our Exhibits team and help us develop these aspects of our show. This widening of our focus will broaden the benefits to both the attendees and the exhibitors by bringing in board-level packaging engineers.
There will be many other changes as well. We plan to have the Exhibition Hall available Sunday afternoon as well as all day Monday before the show to ease the insanity of trying to get all of the crates out to the floor, get set up, and get cleaned up all within the span of only a few short hours.
Again, I say thank you to all those dedicated people who set such a high standard at IMAPS ‘00 in Boston, but look out! We are planning to raise the bar even higher!
Help us clear the bar!
Looking forward to seeing you all in Baltimore at IMAPS ‘01!
