IMAPS 2001 Professional Development Courses
Phil Hider, PDC Chair
IMAPS will be presenting the Professional Development Courses at the Baltimore 2001 International Symposium on Sunday, October 7th and Monday, October 8th. These will again be presented as all day sessions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm with minor exceptions. The courses will be held on the third floor of the Baltimore Convention Center. All of the meeting rooms for the Professional Development Courses are on the same level, in the same immediate area. The same set of rooms will be used on following days for the Technical Program presentation. There is direct access between this area and the exhibit hall just two floors immediately below. To add a little extra interest, PDC rooms all face Baltimore’s showcase stadium, Camden Yards. No extra charge!
We again plan to hold the “Hands-on” workshops that were so well received last year. These courses are restricted in size so those who are interested in taking the courses will need to apply early to obtain a place. The bulk of the regular Professional Development Courses will be similar to those presented in past years, with an emphasis on advancing technology. PDCs are intended to provide in-depth information directly pertinent to the attendees’ every-day work. We plan to present courses by those who have already faced the growing environmental problems in Europe and other parts of the world and who are already in the process of resolving them. In keeping with developments in our industry, we plan to present several new courses that new technologies and environmental concerns are demanding.
I would like to thank all those attendees who take advantage of these courses and to add the request that each applicant completes the evaluation sheet for each course taken. In this way, those presenting future courses are able to determine the most appropriate courses available. It is that synergy of Professional Development Courses, Technical Papers and Exhibitors that make the IMAPS International Symposium so unique. So come be a benefactor, and help us continue to present the courses that our jobs demand.
