IMAPS 2001
Silent Auction News
By Art Dobie, 2001 Silent Auction Chair
The IMAPS Educational Foundation was created to provide grants to students who are undertaking a discipline of microelectronics as their field of study. It's a terrific way for our Society to replenish itself with new members who have selected microelectronics as their intended profession. Thankfully, many dedicated Organizational (as well as Individual) members have generously contributed to the Foundation over its lifetime to make it a great success.
The IMAPS Silent Auction was established as an easy way for more of our Society's members to become active in the success of the Educational Foundation. The concept is rather simple; someone donates an item to the Society that is then made available for bidding by anyone attending the 2001 IMAPS Symposium in Baltimore this Fall. Interested attendees write their bids on that prize's “bid-board” anytime until bids close, and the prize is awarded to the highest bidder. Plan now to be both a bidder and a donor to the auction.
You and your company can make a tax-deductible donation of any of these popular items to IMAPS to be used as auction prizes: digital cameras; personal organizers; portable stereos; fine wines; gift certificates; golf equipment; dining certificates to fine, symposium-local restaurants; champagne; collectibles; interesting logo garments; etc.
IMAPS Chapters can also bid on auction items for use as door prizes at their future meeting and outings. Chapters can get involved with donating by offering a “season ticket” to their chapter meetings; advertising space in their newsletter; or a paid full-conference registration to the 2002 IMAPS symposium, or even their own local vendor's night.
Many of the prizes that are donated are things you were already considering purchasing as gifts this Holiday Season. Get an early jump on your gift shopping this October, while supporting the IMAPS Educational Foundation.
