Review of
Handbook of Ceramics, Glasses, and Diamonds
McGraw-Hill, 2001, Edited by Charles Harper

The Handbook of Ceramics, Glasses, and Diamonds is directed primarily toward electronic applications of these materials. There are nine chapters: four concerning the properties and processing of ceramic materials, two concerning glasses, two concerning applications of ceramics and glasses, and a final chapter with extensive information on diamonds.

While there is enough background theory to provide understanding of the principles, the thrust is primarily practical. The properties and applications of a variety of materials are provided, making this book a valuable reference for those involved in the design and fabrication of electronic assemblies. For example, there is an entire chapter devoted to microelectronic applications of ceramics and glasses. Metallization processes for ceramics and glasses are also covered in detail.

The topics covered in this book are all highly germane to the technologies that make up IMAPS. It will be an often-used volume in the technical library.
