The 7th Annual Golf Classic
The planning and organization of the IMAPS 2001 Golf Classic was a real chore. From the very beginning there were big decisions to be made. Where should the tournament be held? What kind of facilities do we need? Having to travel around and play all of the top golf courses in the greater Baltimore metro area was really time consuming and tiring. In the end, the course selected for the tournament, Greystone Golf Course in White Hall, MD, was a tough decision.
All of the golf courses that I visited (and played)were challenging, exceptional facilities. In the end, the atmosphere and surroundings were the deciding factors. I’m sure everyone attending IMAPS 2001 is going to enjoy the Baltimore Convention Center and the surrounding attractions of downtown Baltimore, but the big city atmosphere is quite apparent. The selection of Greystone allows those that were intelligent enough to decide to play in the Golf Classic (and support the IMAPS Educational Foundation) the opportunity to escape from the city for the day and enjoy the sights and smells of the country surroundings. The course speaks for itself. Designed by Joe Lee golf course architect of Doral’s Blue Monster and the magical courses at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL Greystone is situated on 215 acres of rolling farmland in northern Baltimore County. The course plays 6,161 from the white tees and contains 140 feet of elevation changes, 7 ponds, and 86 bunkers.
It’s not too late to make an intelligent decision. Spaces are still available for you and your friends and for those of you interested, corporate hole sponsorships are also available (please contact me or Doug Paul, IMAPS HQ 202-548-8712).
I’m really looking forward to October 8th and the tee-off of the IMAPS 2001 Golf Classic. It should be a lot of fun for all and for me personally, it will be a blast. All of the committee has worked really hard on organizing an all-encompassing event for the extremely diverse crowd attending IMAPS 2001. I hope that my contribution to IMAPS 2001 is as enjoyable for all of those participating as it was for me to help plan. Thanks and enjoy the week in Balmer!
