HOTOMETRIX Acquired by the NETZSCH Group

Hotometrix-Micromet has been acquired by NETZSCH Group and will now be known as NETZSCH Instruments. The new entity combines Hotometrix-Micromet with the parent company’s Thermal Analysis business and will offer the broadest range of products and testing services for thermal analysis and thermophysical characterization available. NETZSCH Instruments is headquartered in Boston, MA.

KULICKE & SOFFA’s New European Service Center

Kulicke & Soffa has opened its European Service Center in Germering, Germany, near Munich. The new facility will chiefly attend to key European customers of K&S. The new service center will offer, among other things, a 24-hour spare parts service. In additions to the Germering facility, K&S also has offices in Eindoven, The Netherlands and in Switzerland.

Kevin Conlon Named President of PALOMAR TECHNOLOGIES

Palomar Technologies, Inc., announces the promotion of Kevin Conlon to president. Chairman Gary Gist made the announcement. Prior to joining Palomar, Conlon held several management and executive positions within the semiconductor capital equipment industry, including ten years in product marketing and operations management at Applied Materials. He was previously director of marketing for Novellus Systems and executive vice president, sales and marketing for Genus Inc. Conlon received his BS degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and his MBA degree from Santa Clara University.

Cormack Appointed Senior Vice President of SEMI DICE

Semi Dice, Inc., a leading bare die distributor, has named Dan Cormack senior vice president. Cormack previously served as vice president and division manager for the company’s Southern California headquarters where he managed sales and lab operations. He also managed sales for the Hi Rel Division. Management personnel at each of the company’s three stocking locations and the Hi Rel Division will now report directly to Cormack.

INCEP™ Names Darrel Therriault V.P.- Operations

INCEP Technologies has named Darrel Therriault to the position of vice president of operations. Reporting directly to INCEP President Jim Hjerpe Kaskade, Therriault will coordinate and manage all manufacturing related activities including procurement, supply chain management, and quality control. Therriault has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing management in the electronics industry with companies such as nCUBE, Sun Microsystems, KOEI, Teradata, and Jacquard Systems, AM Int’l. He obtained both technical and business degrees while in the U.S. Navy, from Iowa State University, Pierce College, and Portland State University. Therriault has published articles and provided seminar training on the topic of domestic and international manufacturing operations for high-performance computing.

Nordquist Joins WINLAND ELECTRONICS as V.P. Sales

Dale A. Nordquist, an executive with more than 20 years experience in sales and marketing leadership positions with EMS companies, has joined Winland Electronics, as Vice President Sales. Most recently, Nordquist has been V.P. Sales and Marketing for Quickdraw Conveyor Systems. Previously, he spent 18 years with HEI where he served as V.P. Sales and Marketing He also served on the executive steering committees of various national electronic industry societies, most notably the Microelectronic Market Research Council, the marketing arm of IMAPS.

IMS Breaks Ground on New Facilities Expansion

International Manufacturing Services Inc. (IMS) broke ground on a new facilities expansion at the company’s Portsmouth, Rhode Island, headquarters on October 29, 2001. The new addition doubles the size of the existing facility, and will help accommodate the company’s increased growth in the worldwide electronics marketplace. IMS President Tom Moakley stated, “This expansion represents a milestone in the long-term growth plans of IMS. Increasing demand for IMS products — particularly our ANX Power Series, ULX, and AV-0805 series products, have driven this expansion, coupled with our philosophy of fast delivery of difficult to obtain parts. We’ll be able to serve our customers even better, furthering the IMS reputation for the ‘Impossible Made Simple.’”
