Book Review:
New Book by National Experts Shows How to Combine Business Systems to Cut Cost and Confusion
A new book shows companies how to combine management systems to cut costs and confusion and stay in operation all while meeting tough requirements in the areas of Product Quality, Environmental Impact, Employee Health and Safety, and more. Integrating Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems, by business experts Mary F. McDonald, Terry A. Mors, Ann W. Phillips, and Eddie Phillips, shows companies how to keep in compliance while simplifying operations.
McDonald states, “The need for companies to do more with less has never been more critical. This book should allow companies to understand where it makes sense to integrate their management systems, and where it might not!”
According to Mors, “This approach can be particularly significant during downturns. The economy has hurt a lot of companies, and they are forced to downsize. People were stretched thin before; now they’re asked to do even more. Requirements aren’t being reduced, and consequently companies have to find ways to do more with less!”
Ann Phillips of OmniTech International adds, “Maintaining multiple systems to accomplish similar goals is neither cost-effective nor practical in today’s business environment. Integrating management systems, where appropriate, reduces the cost and time needed to implement and to maintain the systems. The trick is identifying where it is appropriate to integrate and where it is not.”
With a focus on the requirements for ISO 9001:2000 quality systems, ISO 14001 environmental systems, and OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety systems, Integrating Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems helps any company to make its existing systems better, or helps it put new management systems in place. Checklists are provided on CD-ROM with the book, so it’s easy for companies to work with them electronically.
“This book is designed to help companies save time, energy and money,” adds Mors. The authors are certified Environmental Management System lead auditors, certified Quality Management System lead auditors, and they have worked with several hundred different management systems in their combined careers.
Integrating Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems is published by Government Institutes in Rockville, Maryland.
