IMAPS 2002 Student Chapter Marketing Competition
Microelectronics packaging technology is continuously evolving to meet the needs of advancing device technology. The survival of a business in the highly competitive microelectronics industry is directly related to its ability advertise and successfully market its products and services. Recognizing this fact, the IMAPS 2002 Symposium Program Committee is giving students an opportunity to become involved in the marketing of microelectronics packaging. To accomplish this, IMAPS is sponsoring the first annual Student Chapter Marketing Competition.
The Student Chapter Marketing Competition is focusing on several selected industry groups including automotive, wireless, optoelectronics, RF/microwave and RF/wireless packaging. Students from participating universities are competing in three areas. Cash prizes will be awarded to the IMAPS student chapters submitting the best marketing plans, the best print advertisements and the best electronic media advertisements. The winning student chapter in each area will receive $1,000 and the runner-up will receive $500. In addition, each participating student chapter will receive $500 to help with their market plan development.
The market plan is expected to set forth the message and services IMAPS offers to the specific industry group. The print advertising will be an ad setting forth the message of the marketing plan suitable for publication in a trade magazine focusing on the chosen industry group. The electronic advertising will deliver the same message utilizing web pages and/or email. Judging for the competition will be done under the auspices of the Microelectronics Manufacturing Research Council (MMRC).
