Special Event at IMAPS ‘02
MARKETING FORUM presented by the MMRC
By Mike O’Neill, Heraeus/CMD
The Microelectronics Marketing Research Council (MMRC) will offer a free-of-charge Marketing Forum at the Microelectronics Gold Rush -IMAPS 2002 in Denver. Everyone is invited to attend the forum (full symposium, exhibit only, exhibitors, students, etc). If you’re interested or maybe just intrigued, attend and participate in the Free Forum on Wednesday afternoon.
Speakers will discuss their analysis and insights into various current technologies and emerging markets of interest to both current and prospective IMAPS and MMRC members. Some of these technologies are Integrated Passive Devices, LTCC, Automotive Electronics, and Optoelectronics. The Forum will feature four presentations with a panel discussion at the end that will allow for audience participation in this not to be missed event!
The worldwide demand for cost effective microelectronic and packaging solutions continues to grow. However, the complexity of providing a packaging technology solution for an industry requirement is becoming an increasingly difficult task. The current overlap in technologies is currently leading to different solutions depending on the installed technology base around the world. Will this trend continue?
In 1987, representatives from the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) and the IPC met to form the Microelectronics Marketing Research Council (MMRC). The MMRC targets the industry’s marketing professionals through the IMAPS Organizational Member Community. It provides a forum for members to organize and support programs designed to analyze the technology and competitive elements impacting the microelectronic packaging marketplace. The MMRC holds biannual winter and summer meetings. Drawing from the expertise of industry consultants, these programs focus on market trends and marketing issues facing our business today and in the future. A recent meeting included presentations from experts in the industry on: communication satellites, the latest in communication devices, the impact of COTS on market trends, and views from the investment community. It just doesn’t get any better than this, and the focus was on our industry. Recently an added benefit of corporate membership now includes automatic membership in the MMRC.
The Microelectronics Marketing Research Council (MMRC) is dedicated to providing the IMAPS Microelectronic and Packaging individual member and member companies with marketing and industry-related programs. The Marketing Forum will be held on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2002, at the Colorado Convention Center. Various segments of the microelectronics industry are re-establishing their growth models as the economy emerges from recession. This session will help clarify the direction of key markets and technologies that were previously perceived as “hot,” but in 2001 were “not”. Questions that will be discussed are: Are we still placing the right bets with our development efforts? Is growth expected this year, next year, or in 5 years? Which industry groups are growing? What is now driving demand after the roller coaster ride of the Y2K issue, a red-hot economy in 2000, and the recession of 2001? These questions and more will be addressed.
If you or your company is working in Microelectronics and Packaging this is a Forum you can’t afford to miss.
