Laissez les bon temps roulez!

Let the good times roll, as they say in New Orleans, is the theme of this month’s article. We are in the middle of the summer months, which for many of us means vacation time, new model launch time, or spending our time on the golf course, at some ball field, or at swimming pool, either improving our own muscle tone while getting some much deserved down time, or watching the kids compete.

What is the benefit of allowing some natural ‘recharge of our system batteries’? The reasons are as numerous as the readers of Advancing Micro – from connecting with loved ones, to improved mental and physical well-being, to experiencing something truly life altering – all are reasons to take time out from our every day lives and ‘chill’!

My job necessitates that I travel pretty extensively. As I write this article, I happen to be in Denver, Colorado, the site of our annual Symposium in September. This year, we (IMAPS) are holding our Symposium at the beginning of the month; after spending a few days here, I’ve told my husband that we need to discuss coming out before Labor Day to experience Colorado without any other distractions. There are so many things to do here, from Outlet shopping, to microbreweries, to sports events (I landed just an hour too late to catch a Colorado Rockies game!) and more. The downtown area, where the Adam’s Mark is located, is a vibrant area complete with a pedestrian mall at 16th Street, and within a very short drive is scenic Golden (home of Coors), Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs. As someone who does not see majestic mountains every day, it is truly a treat to turn your head and see them rising off in the distance. Make sure you take a peek when you’re here!

Enjoy your summer, remember to recharge your batteries, and if you don’t get some down time before the end of summer, let’s meet in Denver for the weekend in September!
